Our Drop-In programs cover a wide range of topics and activities. Although many of our drop-in programs take place at CNYC, we also make connections to other organizations and businesses in the community to provide diverse activities for our youth. This year CNYC has been hosting two drop-in programs available to the public: workshops offered by the Rap and Rhythm Collective and; the CNYC Community Circle.
The workshops by the Rap and Rhythm Collective took place on the weekends at CNYC and invited youth to express themselves creatively as well as learn the fundamental skills to write, record and produce rap music. These workshops have been led by community oriented artists and leaders including Zoe ‘Pricelys’ Roy, Muskwa LeRat, and Eli Temple. Together they have worked with youth to create and produce several songs, as well as one collective track titled, “Loop Theory.” Keep an eye open for these up-and-coming young artists at local spoken word and hiphop events.
The CNYC Community Circle takes place every Wednesday from 5-7pm. This event is focused on everything and anything regarding healing. It is open to all members of the community and is facilitated by one of our staff members. These circles encourage individuals to discuss their healing journey and to open their ears and hearts to others who are on a similar path. For more information, click here.
