CNYC is proud to offer programming focused on First Nations’ Culture and practices. For many years, this program has been facilitated by a cultural coordinator from the community who works with the youth, allowing them an opportunity to develop a sense of cultural pride, to develop relationships with the community and Elders, as well as helping to keep cultural traditions alive. The cultural program also introduces the youth to the various cultural and ethnic groups within Saskatoon.
Hands on activities include beading, drum-making, bow-building, constructing feather boxes and putting together dreamcatchers. Through community support and organizations, this programming also provides youth with access to Sweat Lodge ceremonies, traditional performance-arts, such as drumming, and various cultural events.
